What we tested
A finished OrigArmor Prime, straight from its packaging, with the shipping liner peeled off — the same protector you would put on your phone.
How
A linear abrasion tester drew 120-grit quartz sandpaper across the coated surface under a 3 kg load, through a 10 × 10 mm head, at 13 mm/s over a 30 mm stroke — one pass. Lab conditions 23±2 °C, 50±5% RH.
Result
No scratch. Pass.
Why it matters
An AR coating rarely fails by cracking. It fails by hazing over — and once the surface is covered in fine scratches, the anti-reflective layer stops doing its job. Hardness is what keeps the clarity you paid for.

- Face ID compatible: a wide-band AR layer stays highly transparent at 920–960 nm near-infrared, so Face ID on your iPhone 18 Pro Max unlocks just as it does on the bare screen.
- Full coverage with an original-screen feel: the Tora-Bend™ integrated 3D process with rounded 3D edges covers over 98% of the display on 0.4mm high-aluminosilicate tempered glass and 0.38mm anti-rainbow adhesive. A Shin-Etsu licensed oleophobic coating (initial water contact angle ≥115°) makes it smooth and fingerprint resistant — smudges wipe off in one pass.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, 17 Pro and Pro Max, 16 Pro and Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone Duo. Every protector is cut 1:1 and every case moulded per model, so pick your exact iPhone on the product page — the Pro and Pro Max are different sizes.
Ceramic Shield handles drops well, but cover glass still scratches from sand and pocket grit, the oleophobic coating wears off, and AppleCare+ excludes scratches as cosmetic damage — while trade-in graders price them. A 9H+ protector is the replaceable layer that fills that gap, and in a fall it often cracks instead of your display. If you carry your phone alone in a clean pocket and don't trade in, going bare is a fair choice; most owners prefer the insurance.

Clear glass doesn't. On the iPhone 18 Pro, where the sensor moved under the display, avoid matte or privacy layers over the top-left corner and re-enrol Face ID after installing; our HD, SunView AR and OrigArmor AR protectors keep the sensor unobstructed. On the 16 and 17 Pro the sensors sit in the Dynamic Island cutout.
